How to print custom designs on to various media.
Introduction.
With the rapid progresses being made in printing technology, the days of considering printing to be something that’s only done on paper are long gone. Indeed, it’s pretty hard these days to imagine anything that you can’t print on to from a computer. Any type of paper you’d care to mention, CDs and DVDs, T-Shirts, plastics and even metals; there seems to be a computer printer for every occasion. So, just about anyone can become self-sufficient in custom design and printing on to any type of media and, let’s face it, designing and then printing your own things at home can be fun.
Designing your own print items.
If you’ve not got ‘an artists eye’ yourself when it comes to designing something - no worries there’ll be a specialist piece of software to help you out. Actually you don’t even need to buy any extra or special software; if you’ve got a recent version of MS Word - there’s almost certain to be a template to match what you need and it will also guide you through, say, printing personalized Invitations. The problem with this is, of course, that everyone else in the world has access to exactly those same templates when sending out invitations, so designing something that’s truly original and stands out from everyone else’s can be difficult. Never mind, if you’re determined to make your own things at home perhaps you can put that little bit of ‘individualism’ into the design yourself. After all you’ve seen Picasso’s work and Jackson Pollock’s - if that’s art …… ! Personally I can’t even draw ‘stick-men’ properly, so without some great software to help me design invitations they’d look, well - home-made when I printed them. No, I’d definitely need professional help in designing or customizing invitations.
Printing customized items to different media.
Without wishing to sound too over confident - anyone can work a computer printer. Well I think that’s 100% true when you’re just printing on to ordinary paper an ordinary text or graphical computer file. However, even with some of the great printers around these days, I’ve seen people waste sheets and sheets of perforated printing card, trying to print business cards; simply because they put in the wrong side up, upside down, wrong-way around …. etc. I’ve seen people reduced to tears trying to print custom designed t-shirts transfers and put them onto T-Shirts - mainly because they didn’t follow the instructions about the inks to use or the temperature at which to press the transfer. Net result - frustration and an incredibly messy ‘home-made’ job; that looks worse than something like the kids in the local Elementary school would make for a t-shirt printing project.
Need a professional printing job done - ask the professionals!
Everyone likes to receive customized and personalized gifts and information. As stated earlier, it’s quite easy to prepare and print personalized invitations for a particular function - but getting it to look just right can take hours of your time. If you want to have some t-shirts printed for a corporate day out or just some fun project - you could spend a fortune on inks and wasted transfers and T-shirts. You can always tell a professional printing job from a ‘home-made one; and some jobs do require a specialized printer. You might have seen autos passing by with what look like transfers on their windshields or car magnets stuck on their doors - clearly advertising a business or something. Whilst the design on these transfers and car magnets might look straightforward, the cost of a specialized printer for Car magnets might well be difficult to justify. No need to worry though. There are specialist companies, that you can find online, that can design and print just about anything and on to just about any type of media imaginable. They specialize in producing for you the customized look and feel you’re after and will then ship the finished product to you. A good and reputable customized design and print service will even offer you free samples, so that you can judge for yourself just how good they are. All in all you’ll save on time, you’ll reduce your stress levels and, compared to trying to do it yourself, the potential for waste in computer printer inks and materials - you could even find that you actually save money.
