Web pages are written in a
language known as HTML, consisting of standardized "tags"
which are added to the text of your web page to specify
formatting, insert pictures, and link to other web pages.
You can create a web site either by using software specifically
meant for authoring web pages or alternately by writing web pages
"from scratch" using a text editor or word processor.
Using Web Page Authoring Software
A variety of software programs
are available for generating home pages without having to
learn HTML. We recommend
Macromedia Dreamweaver,
which is available in many Instructional
Computing labs. Microsoft FrontPage
is another web authoring program which
is also available in many of these facilities.
Check out Instructional
Computing's free software
workshops for information on attending classes on using
these programs.
Writing Web Pages
If you're interested in writing your own web pages we recommend taking one of
Instructional Computing's HTML
workshops. These free courses are offered throughout the quarter to assist you in
creating web pages.
