Once you have created your web pages, they must be "uploaded" to the U-Web
server so that they will be accessible on the internet.
If you use a web site authoring tool such as Dreamweaver
your site will be automatically uploaded. But if you're not using a program that handles
site upload automatically you'll have to do this yourself. Because your U-Web
account is integrated with U-Storage,
you can upload your pages using any of the
U-Storage access systems.
Once you've got your web site ready, you can publish it by following
these simple steps:
-
connect to your U-Web account using a Secure FTP program as described on
the U-Storage site
- on the remote system, change into the uweb directory
- transfer your HTML files and any associated images to the remote system
- make sure all of your web pages have the suffix .html or
.htm
- if you want your web site to be listed in the Student
Web Index, your home page must be named one of the following:
index.html, index.htm,
home.html, home.htm,
default.html, or default.htm.
