Say hello to Rocky!

Rocky loves me because my name is Adriane, but he will love you too.
This dog adores children. A perfect first dog for your kids. He is super gentle, and endures all kinds of mishandling
from children with no protest. Just like a retired champion with some battle scars,
Rocky really likes to work out for an hour every morning (by going for a walk) and likes to follow that up with a rub-down,
especially behind the ears and at the base of the tail. He is very affectionate and loves to cuddle.
He also enjoys kicking back on the couch later in the evening and taking in some of Sylvester Stallone's movies.
He might not have "The Eye of the Tiger," but he has the heart of a lion. Adoption fee is $100, donations are welcome.

Say hello to Cartoon!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
I freely admit that I love all the dogs I work with, and I want them all to find fabulous homes. But this one is really, really special!
He's an Alaskan malamute named Cartoon, and he is just about the prettiest pretty boy I have ever seen in my life.
He also has a terrific personality! He is perfectly well-mannered on a leash, very people-oriented, and
SO PRETTY! LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL FACE!
Unfortunately he had to be shaved over the summer because he was roasting underneath all that absolutely gorgeous fur.
He would really appreciate a home with some air conditioning, and an owner with some grooming experience.
But aside from those two little demands, Cartoon is just as laid back as they come.
He loves attention, playtime, cuddles, kids, other dogs, fine dining, and walks along the beach.
His adoption fee is only $65, which includes his microchip, sterilization surgery, vaccinations, and all the spare fur you could ever want!

Say hello to Daisy Mae!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
June's fuzzy wuzzy joy has been around for way longer than a month though, and she deserves a permanent home pronto!
Her name is Daisy Mae; she is part pit bull, part shepherd, and part snuggle bug--she loves attention and affection.
She was found as a stray, but she was clearly loved at some point because she knows basic commands and is completely potty trained.
She is very smart and eager to please her human companions, so she learns tricks and rules very easily.
She is super well-mannered on a leash, and never ever pulls because that would only take her farther away from you.
Her adoption fee is only $30, which includes her microchip, sterilization surgery, vaccinations, and all the cuddles you could possibly want!

To make Daisy Mae your new best friend, please visit:

Say hello to Brutus!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
May's muscular bundle of rough and tumble is Brutus, a pit bull mix available for adoption at the Humane Societ of Southern Arizona.
This boy has one of the biggest heads ever--his mouth is absolutely cavernous! ("The better to give you sloppy kisses with, my dear!")
Brutus is a big dog who likes to play hard; he would be happiest in a home with a fenced yard so he can run around in circles to his heart's content.
He's also serious about his loving though, and wants nothing more than to snuggle with his humans after a hard day of playing.
Brutus is a little bit stand-offish with strangers, and will let you know it with a loud bark. He would make a great watch dog for your home.
Inside he's a big sweetie though; he really just wants hugs, kisses, ear scratches and belly rubs from you.

Say hello to Princess!

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is starting to get crowded, so they are running a special deal:
all pets who have been in the shelter for over thirty days will have their adoption fees reduced to $30!
Since the Humane Society is making pets available for less than half the usual price, April has two dogs of the month. (You should adopt them both!)
This big girl is Princess, the gentle giant of the Humane Society. She's huge--and an absolutely enormous sweetie pie!
Princess is a four year old labrador mix who apparently thinks she's a lap dog, and she really lives up to her name--she loves attention.
She's very polite, though, and knows better than to jump in your lap if you ask her not to.
She is also extremely well-trained: she can sit, stay, heel, lie down, bow, and shake.
She will also come to you right away when she is called, without being told more than once and without being bribed by treats.
Princess enjoys being groomed, and will not squirm or whine even the littlest bit when you brush her.
She loves hugs and kisses, and gets along well with absolutely everyone she meets at the shelter--vets, kids, other dogs, pigeons, you name it.

To make Princess the royalty of your home, please visit:

Say hello to Gulliver!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
April's ray of sunshine is a shepherd mix named Gulliver, who will be available for adoption just as soon as he gets over a little upper respiratory infection.
There are some dogs who blindly love every person they meet. Gulliver is not one of those dogs--but his trust is well worth gaining over time!
When I first met this mutt, he didn't want to have much to do with me. He was never aggressive or territorial, but he'd definitely avoid me if he could.
Now we're bosom buddies, just like Auntie Mame and Vera Charles! (Although I doubt Auntie Mame ever enjoyed chasing tennis balls as much as Gulliver.)
Gulliver is a very loyal and well-mannered dog, and he always poops and pees outside like a gentleman.
He's also very smart: he remembers people well, and he's very aware of his surroundings. He would probably make an excellent watch dog for your home.
And he's absolutely drop-dead gorgeous too!

Say hello to Abigail!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
March's precious little furball is a shepherd mix named Abigail, who is available for adoption at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
Abigail came to the Humane Society after one of the employees found her trying to cross a busy road during rush hour.
Since she had no ID and she couldn't tell us about herself when she arrived, nobody really knows what her background is.
We think she may have been abused, because she was very afraid of people when she first arrived at the shelter, and would growl and snap at anyone who came too close.
But she became a total love bug once she got to know the people at the Humane Society, and realized that no one was trying to hurt her.
Now she's taking obedience classes, and learning new tricks very quickly (because she's so smart, of course).

To make Abigail your new best friend, please visit:

Say hello to Chango!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
February's slice of angel food cake is Chango, a pit bull mix available for adoption at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
Chango really puts the "terrier" in pit bull terrier--he is so short!
As a senior citizen, Chango would absolutely love love love to find a quiet forever home where he can enjoy his retirement in peace.
He came to the Humane Society because he didn't get along with the children in his household, but he gets along splendidly with people who don't pull his tail or make obnoxious banging sounds.
Chango is generally a mellow mongrel who likes quiet attention, but he still has enough pep to take you running every day if you need to get in shape.
Chango is also a lonely lad these days because his long-time kennelmate Kendra was recently adopted. The two of them got along really well together, and he misses her a lot.
Awww...

Say hello to Stevey!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
January's snowflake is Stevey, an absolutely gorgeous medium-large brindle Shepherd mix available for adoption at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
(Seriously, the picture simply doesn't do him justice. This guy is pretty enough to run for Governor of Alaska.)
He's a somewhat reserved dog at first meet, but he definitely warms up once the petting starts!
One of the things I really love about this big baby is how protective he is of me when the two of us take walks together. If anyone else comes along on the trail,
he immediately moves in front of me and stands by very attentively until he's sure the danger has passed. I suspect that Stevey would make an excellent watch dog.
Stevey is a high-energy boy who would ideally like to have a yard to play in, or an owner who would like to run (or rollerskate) and play lots of exciting games with him.
He knows basic commands and is very eager to please his human companions--once he finishes giving them sloppy kisses, of course. :)
Stevey gets along well with some dogs, but should be carefully introduced whenever this is a goal. Again, he's not at all jealous; just a bit wary of newbies.

Say hello to Truffles!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
December's widdle snuggle wuggums is Truffles, a medium-sized Rottweiler available for adoption at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
Truffles is a very sweet ol' girl who would love to have as much of your undivided attention as you can spare (though she would never dream of forcing herself upon you).
She would make a great pet for a homemaker, a retired person, a paranoid shut-in, or anyone who spends a lot of time at home -- which is exactly where she wants you to be.
She would also be a great pet for a small home or apartment, as she doesn't need as much room to roam as she used to. A few easy walks per day will keep this girl very satisfied.
She knows basic commands and is very eager to please (although she is also very easily distracted by anything that moves or smells interesting).
As you may have guessed, Truffles is generally a pretty mellow girl who plays well with others.

Say hello to Bruce!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
November's precious baby is Bruce, a medium-sized red pit bull available for adoption at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
Bruce is 100% loverboy--he absolutely loves to play and cuddle! Previous pit bull experience won't be necessary with this sweetie pie.
He knows basic commands and obeys with positive reinforcement. He is potty trained, and will let you know when he needs to go outside.
Speaking of going outside, Bruce walks very nicely on a leash, and really enjoys exploring! An active, playful family would probably be this guy's dream come true.
Bruce gets along wonderfully with other dogs, small kids, and... well, just about everyone (i.e. he would probably not make a very useful guard dog.)

To give Bruce a home for the holidays, please visit:

Say hello to Darcy!

Each month I like to write about a dog I have particularly enjoyed working with at the Humane Society in the hopes of helping him or her find a home.
October's precious baby is Darcy, a large, young, mixed breed female available for adoption at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
She knows basic commands and obeys well--even with all the distractions around her at the shelter.
She is potty trained, protective of her loved ones, and very cuddly!
In spite of her large size she walks perfectly well on a leash, and gets along splendidly with other dogs.
She does not like noisy or busy environments, and would probably prefer to live in a home without small children (although she is very tolerant of them as visitors).

To make Darcy your boo this Halloween, please visit:
