Miscellany? I like to think of this page as an attic where I can store a few items I'm not willing to throw out yet but can't pay as much attention to as I'd like.

Unwanted Advances in Fiction consists of some pieces of writing I've done over the years, none published elsewhere (but all copyrighted). Enjoy, whether at your leisure or peril...

A Profile in Cabbage

Istanbul Haiku, with seasonal bookends

MoMoFo (a work in progress)

New Instrument Designs
Here you'll find a page with some plucked string instruments I've been cooking up.

Translation
In a previous incarnation I worked as a translator and interpreter in Spanish and Portuguese. (I can probably still get around in French and simple Italian too, if need be.) Most of the work was commercial or otherwise ephemeral in nature, but here is a recently written work that I translated for Argentine ethnomusicologist Guillermo Wilde, Toward a Political Anthropology of Mission Sound: Paraguay in the 17th and 18th Centuries.
