I design and maintain web sites for a relatively small fee. I specialize in independent web sites, such as bands and small businesses. I don't do high-profile web sites, because they usually call for advanced PHP work, with which I do not have much experience.

I can create the design for your web site or work from your own design ideas. I can also do some graphic design (such as logos, banners, etc.) and some flash animation for your web site.

In other words, if you're a small business or an independent artist looking for cheap web design that doesn't look cheap, then my work is right for you. Just send me an email and I can give you a free quote.

Experience

Most of my design skills have been self-taught. Although, I did work for quite a while at the California Department of Education on a web team that worked to maintain the web site for the Nutrition Services Division. I learned a lot there about web design, especially about creating highly accessible and organized, yet styled, web pages.

Costs

How much does it cost? I hate to say it, but it depends. It depends on how extensive your site will be, what features you want on the site, etc. Contact me and we can assess the details in order to come up with a cost. But here is a rough idea:

Domain name (URL) and hosting (web server space): ~$125 - $200 (per year)

Design/setup fee: one-time fee, usually in the range of a few hundred dollars; depends on amount of work required

Maintanance fee: rate of $20 per hour for when maintanance is needed

Discounted Web Design

I am willing to offer discounted (perhaps even free) web design services for non-profit, community-improving organizations. Why would I do such a thing? To give back to the commmunity, of course. Non-profits especially shouldn't have to suffer such high costs for getting information about their programs on the Internet. Contact me if you think your organization is eligible and needs web design services.

The Process

Step 1:

We discuss the project and generate a quote:

• What services will you need? Do you only need web design or also graphic (logo, banner, etc.) or animation (flash, etc.)?
• Do you have any design preferences for what you would like your site to look like (colors schemes, images, styles, etc.)? If not, I can help make those decisions.
• Do you have a domain name (URL) and hosting (web space) already? If not, we will have to decide on and purchase those things.

Step 2:

I collect from you all all design ideas and site materials that you have, including:

• layout materials (design ideas, images, logos, etc.), and
• content (text, information, to fill your site).

(If a domain name and hosting are required, we will have to work on getting those set up early on.)

Step 3:

I begin working on the site and post the progress for you to monitor. As the design process unfolds we can tweak and make minor changes without altering any costs.

Step 4:

I post your site!
