Depicting the Gloriousness of War

While Georgian poetry depicted the gloriousness of war through poetic words, war was also portrayed as being honorable through recruitment posters. Artistic posters were created in an attempt to persuade British soldiers to defend their nation in war and enlist in the military. Tactics were used in these posters as a means to remind the British of their national identity and their duty to defend their homeland. The following posters demonstrate such tactics in their use of the British flag and using the phrase, "God Save the King."
