Photo.net is a photographer friendly website that allows an amateur or a professional in the photography field to look at other photographers work, talk in forums about photography related topics, and to look into other resources that a photographer might be interested in. This website has a new photograph posted every day, and a portfolio every week for viewers to indulge in. Photo.net has links to everything that the inquiring photographer wants. For instance, a gallery for sharing photographs, forums to talk and answer questions about photography related topics, an equipment link that gives reviews on the latest equipment, and a travel link with travel stories and photographer's guides. Some of the main features of this website include the discussion forums and galleries. The discussion forum is a useful tool for amateurs in the field to ask working professionals about the industry, and also share helpful tips and tricks to strengthen your technical or creative side. The forums are a way to learn about different specialties in the photography business like photography education, photography business, documentary photography, and many other related topics. I personally think this website is a functional way for photographers to brush up on their skills and learn from one another through the forums, and even getting inspiration from one another through the photograph of the day, and the portfolio of the week. I know it helped me when making my decision to further my photography education at The Brooks Institute of Photography. I learned about Brooks from what others had to say about it through the photography education forum. I think this website is much more practical than some magazines like American Photo, Picture, and high end fashion magazines that provide more inspiration instead of dealing with the topics that are really in a photographers head. Photo.net gives detailed information on the latest cameras, and some of the older ones as well, darkroom and printing techniques, new and exciting photography related websites, and also classifieds. You will not find all of this information gathred together in one place in any other photography associated magazine. The only downfall I find about this website is having to create a sign-in name and password in order to post certain things. As I find having too many names and passwords in this technological age to be somewhat annoying. Nevertheless, I find photo.net to be a useful and practical website for the aspiring or working professional photographer trying to keep up to date with the multi-faceted photography business of today.
