Daniel Rozin Interactive Art |
Snow Mirror-2006
Snow Mirror is a interactive piece of work created by Daniel Rozin. Daniel Rozin works on projects known as Software Mirrors where he would put
screens, videos, and computer where the viewer would stand in some place near the work as their image is refleed on the screen. Just like many artist such in the reading from Erkki Huhtamo, Daniel Rozin
is considered a interactive artist. His recent work was a project called Snow Mirror in 2006. Daniel Rozin use silk screen, computers, camera, and a software in order to develop his project, Snow Mirror.
His art project, Snow Mirror, is known for being the first one to show images in black and white and to reflect the viewer in forms of snowflakes. His project brings a whole new experience especially to the viewers because
they see themselves in the screen in a whole new perspective and a different environment compared to where they are standing. What makes this work intersting isn't the codes it could perform but the interaction between the viewers
and the work where the viewer would be amazed and react to the art project.
The creator of the game, Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi creates a similar interactive work. In the reading of Lev Manovich speaks a difference between database and narrative where somebody would
install or create the settings and the viewer or participants would create the narrative of the story as we move along. In the game, Final Fantasy, what makes this game so special is that Hironobu Sakaguchi creates a plot in the game. Unlike other
adventure games, where the plot goes on as you play, Final Fantasy is a game where the plot of the story depends on the player. For example, Hironobu Sakaguchi creates several setting where the player choose what it wants to do and what ever choices it makes,
the plot leads to someplace depending to the character's choices such like making a crime leads the plot where the character becomes evil or something alike. Hironobu Sakaguchi shows how in the game of Final Fantasy, the players create the story as we play along
to our adventure we desire.
Mark Napier is known for his software art where he expresses himself of what he believes and thinkis in certain issues like the community. His recent interactive artwork consist a programming of a version of the Empire State Building.
Like the reader, Mark Napier takes information or codes from other source and combines it to form his own creation. In his interactive art, he develops a three dimensional enviornment of the Empire State Building. His idea came when the building collapse, he sought it as a symbol of power, both economic and cultural.
Unlike the reality, in Mark Napier software program he creates where the building can't never be collapsed no matter what. He creates a building that bends and wiggles but never collapse.
