Job Description:
Summer Internship Job Opening Company: KEVA Engineering, a small Automotive Engineering firm specializing in the engineering analysis and reconstruction of vehicle collisions. Duration: Summer only (end of spring quarter to beginning of fall). Location: Camarillo, CA (Ventura County) Description: This engineering firm is engaged in basic research into the structural response of automobiles in collisions. The job will involve digitizing accelerometer traces from staged collision test instrumentation and performing data manipulations in order to extrapolate force-deformation response. Load cell data will also be analyzed. Analytical curve fits will be developed to the data. This work will support research behind several technical papers currently being written and to be presented at engineering society meetings over the next year. The job will almost entirely involve working on the computer analyzing test report data. Requirements: The applicant should be highly computer literate and interested in the engineering behind vehicle collision testing. The applicant should also have an interest in using instrumentation output to analyze high speed collision events. Basic analytical background is extremely important; however, interest and enthusiasm for the fields of dynamics and solid mechanics are significantly more important than GPA.
